Honors and awards
His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al-Matouq has received a large number of awards in recognition of his pioneering and distinguished role in the hu¬manitarian, charitable and Islamic fields.
Following are the most prominent honors and awards received by His Ex¬cellency:
1. He was awarded the Golden Badge by Mr. António Guterres, former High Com¬missioner for Refugees and current Secretary-General of the United Nations. It is the highest honor given by UNHCR to distinguished personalities in rec¬ognition of his role in supporting humanitarian work, Geneva - April 8, 2014.
2. Awarded Order of the Two Niles of the First Class by His Excellency the for¬mer Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir, the highest honor presented by the Sudanese Presidency in recognition of his role and efforts in the field of char¬itable and humanitarian work, Republic of Sudan - May 6, 2014.
3. Honored by the UNHCR in Kuwait by Antonio Guterres, former High Com¬missioner and current Secretary-General of the United Nations, State of Ku¬wait - November 29, 2015.
4. Honored by Dr. Peter Maurer, former President of the International Commit¬tee of the Red Cross, for his clear imprint in humanitarian and relief work. Ge¬neva - October 6, 2016.
5. Awarded a certificate of appreciation by Mr. Ban Ki-moon, former Secre¬tary-General of the United Nations in recognition of his tireless efforts as an envoy for humanitarian affairs and mobilizing efforts to support humanitari¬an crises, as well as his prominent role towards the Syrian crisis in organizing three consecutive donor conferences to support the humanitarian situation in Syria, hosted by the State of Kuwait (2013, 2014 and 2015) and his leading role in chairing and managing four NGO conferences towards the Syrian crisis (2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016), Kingdom of Bahrain - October 30, 2016.

Sheikh Nasser Award for Humanitarian Work by the rep¬resentative of His Majesty the King of Bahrain, Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa in recognition of his efforts in supporting charitable and humanitarian work in various countries of the world. Awarded the Social Responsibility Personality of the Year Award 2016 in rec¬ognition of his outstanding efforts in supporting humanitarian and social re¬sponsibility projects and initiatives within the activities of the Oman Interna¬tional Conference for Social Responsibility 2016.
