All the praises be to Allah, the God of the Worlds, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger, our Lord Muhammad (PBUH) and upon his family and companions and those who follow them well until the Day of Judgment. History has known prominent names in the field of charitable work that were famous for giving and excellence. So, the divine success was with them in the success of their wonderful efforts and rectitude was their ally in their support for humanitarian works that serve humanity and societies alike. They have written their brilliant biographies in clean pages, to be a good example for generations through the years. From this illustrious constellation, we find a distinguished brother, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Matouq Al-Matouq. I’m delighted to welcome him as part of the activities of (the third Social Innovation Summit 2023), a major cultural event hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain under the generous patronage of His Excellency Mr. Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, Speaker of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Dear brother, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al-Matouq - may God protect him - gave a lot of time and effort to serve charitable work through his various roles and positions he held, including when he assumed the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs during the period from June 2003 until March 2007. During his tenure in the ministry, he supported charitable work and opened new channels to make it easier for those involved to carry out their work with ease and support from the state as well as when he assumed as chairman of the Islamic Charitable Organisation after his election in 2010, he presented many charitable projects aimed at serving Islam and Muslims in various countries and continents of the world. It is worth mentioning that His Excellency Dr. Al-Matouq was appointed as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy for Humanitarian Affairs in 2012 and enjoyed a wide international reputation, and his appointment to this UN position was extended for four consecutive sessions until 2016. This achievement is credited to the Islamic world for his excellence and obtaining the confidence of the members of the United Nations with his wonderful roles. Talking about a great figure like His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al-Matouq and his distinguished roles in charitable work and his fragrant biography requires hundreds of pages to record his good deeds and achievements in the service of all humanity, as talking about a long and luminous career is not limited to a few years but over long decades of time. In conclusion, we ask God to grant him good health and wellness to continue the jaourney of goodness, giving and achievement in the service of the wise Shari’ah... God is the guardian of success.
